Rev. Dr. Terry Dittmer

Rev. Dr. Terry Dittmer serves as Director, Senior Youth Ministry Specialist, for the LCMS Office of National Mission–Youth Ministry. He attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City and graduated in 1970 with a degree in art and education. He attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Ill. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in 2007 from Concordia University Irvine. Since 1979, Terry has served in various roles in LCMS Youth Ministry at the International Center in St. Louis, Mo. He has also composed more than 40 songs and hymns and authored various resources on youth ministry-related topics. Terry and his wife, Cherie, live in St. Louis, Mo., and enjoy spending time with their five adult children and five grandchildren.


Conversation and Coffee: Participants will have the opportunity to join Dittmer for a dynamic discussion during ‘Conversation and Coffee’ on Tuesday morning at 6:30 am.


Enough with the Millennials…Here Come the Plurals: Take a look at the first generation of the 21st century, the oldest of which are in confirmation classes. What is their generational type? What are the characteristics of this new generation? What do we need to know to minister to them, to help them grow in faith and to equip them to be people of God for life? What about learning styles that reach them? Knowing these things now will help keep them connected through high school and beyond.
